Cedar Rapids, IA – April 8, 2011 – A free community gardening exposition, “Extreme Garden Makeover,” will be held at Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation’s Ushers Ferry Historic Village, 5925 Seminole Valley Tr. NE, on May 14 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. No advance registration is required.
Participating organizations include Seed Savers Exchange, Eastern Iowa Orchid Society, Soilmates, Master Gardeners, Green Endeavors and Bass Farms. Participants may bring their own tools. They will learn about and engage in all aspects of gardening including raised beds, composting, heirloom vegetable gardens, container gardens, and master gardening techniques. Seeds and potted seedlings will be given away at the event.
