Kohlrabi!

C.S.A. members,

This will be very plentiful in our first box. Thanks to the weather this spring we have an abundance of Kohlrabi. Don't be surprised if there is a few in your box. So we all need to find ways to cook them. We will find ways to utilize the whole plant. I will tell you how I cook them and consume them. They can be eaten raw. Cut the leaves off and wash thoroughly in cold water. Slice Kohlrabi and add spice of your choice. A little salt and pepper works; I like to eat them raw. They can also be sliced and added to a salad. A great compliment to any type of salad. They can be cooked on the grill in aluminum foil. Cut the leaves off. Place Kohlrabi in foil add spices, olive oil or butter. Place on grill that is turned on low. Cover the top with foil as well. Let simmer for 20-25 minutes. When they have the consistency of a potato they are done. They can also be steamed on stove in pan with a little bit of water, and lid.

Hope This Help's
Chris
